Our Client is a leading farmhouse cheese maker located in Ditcheat, 5 miles south of Shepton Mallet in Somerset. From October 2021, they are seeking additional Temporary Production Line Operatives to pick and pack cheese. Working in a high hygiene, cheese packing line environment, you will be part of the packing team ensuring that all orders are met, weighed, wrapped and packed in accordance with the Client’s specifications. To successfully undertake these roles candidates will need to be able and willing to work on their feet and undertake a variety of manual handling, repetitive tasks throughout the working day. Examples would be picking so many cheese blocks per box or palletizing the filled boxes on the end of the line ready for storage or dispatch. An ability to work accurately and at a good rate will be essential. A good level of literacy and numeracy will also be required for picking and packing off lists and record keeping. Full Health & Safety and Job training will be provided together with any hygiene clothing or P.P.E. the assignment may require. This would be an ideal assignment for a gap year student. Ideally, we are seeking applications from candidates who can offer (at least) 3 to 4 months availability up to December 2021 / January 2022. Given the rural location (5 miles south of Shepton Mallet towards Castle Cary) candidates will need to have their own transport. Free car parking is available. Working days and hours are Monday to Friday, 07.30 to 16.00 daily. A 40-hour working week. The starting hourly pay rate for this assignment is £9.80 and after 40 working hours each week an overtime rate will be paid at £14.70 per hour (time & a half). After 12 weeks of temporary service within this assignment the hourly pay rate will increase to £10.30 with the overtime hourly pay rate also increasing to £15.45. Some of these assignment may have the potential to transfer from temporary to permanent after the initial first 3 months of temporary service.
