This is a permanent, full-time opportunity located near Shepton Mallet in Somerset. Our Client is a dedicated rail partner providing first-class rail products and services to both passenger and freight customers. With their Head Office in Derby, at their Mendip site in Somerset they are servicing the extensive rail freight requirements of their customer involved in quarrying and the movement of aggregate. At their site office, near Shepton Mallet in Somerset, they have an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Planning Manager to work alongside and report to the Site Maintenance & Repair Manager. The key responsibility within this role will be to manage all planning activities at the local freight maintenance facilities, working fully in accordance with the Quality Management System and the depot’s Health & Safety policies and procedures. Examples of duties and responsibilities will include: • Planning & setting wagon maintenance activities using the customer issued wagon maintenance reports. • Updating the customers’ maintenance management system and training staff on the use of the system. • Allocation of stoppage liability codes on both the Client’s bespoke system and the customers’ maintenance management system. • Daily internal & customer reporting (including stoppage reports). • Responsible for carding and releasing of wagons through Freightliner central control. • Responsible for accessing TOPS (Total Operations Processing System). • Reporting & administration relating to wagon damage repair costs. • Ensuring paperwork & information is obtained from site in a timely manner. • KPI & utilization reporting. • Liaise with shunting staff at both sites & attendance at shunting / planning meetings at both sites. • Monitor maintenance dates & prepare & publish weekly / daily maintenance requests. • Work closely with the local Site Managers to integrate site requirements & movements into the maintenance plans. • Working closely with the customers fleet manager to maximise fleet availability. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and personal attributes: • Customer facing and able to communicate and present at all levels. • Very computer literate with a high attention to detail and accuracy. • Organised and able to work to deadlines. • Data interpretation experience with experience of learning and working with computer data systems. • Good practical, geographical knowledge. • Railway knowledge and / or previous planning experience would be advantageous. Given the semi-rural location of the Client’s office (5 miles outside Shepton Mallet in Somerset), Applicants will need to be car owners/drivers and live within a reasonable, daily commute of Shepton Mallet (or be willing & able to relocate to within a reasonable commutable distance). The expected annual salary for this position is up to £35,000 (dependent upon experience). This is a full-time post (37.5 hours per week) typically worked 08.00 to 16.30 on Monday to Thursday and 08.00 to 14.00 on Fridays.
