Part-time Visitor Services Assistant (Welcome Desk). To start during January 2024. £10.90 per hour. Location: Wells, Somerset. “Temp to Perm” opportunity. Reviewed after the first 12 weeks of temporary service. Working as part of the Visitor Services team, your role will be to provide excellent customer service to visitors at the Welcome Desk and to act as an ambassador for the Cathedral. The main duties and responsibilities will include: providing a warm & knowledgeable welcome to all visitors to the Cathedral; promoting the Cathedral to visitors ensuring information is delivered correctly & consistently; responding to customer enquiries; to fully understand why it is necessary for the Cathedral to actively encourage & maximise donations from visitors and to be able to articulate the reasons why; the cross-selling of products including memberships and event sales; promoting Gift Aid and other forms of donation to the Cathedral; handling cash, credit card & voucher payment transactions quickly & efficiently; encouraging visitors to make observations (compliments &/or complaints) & to act to refer these on or resolve immediately using appropriate discretion; providing additional cover for holidays, events & sickness as required. A successful Visitor Services Assistant will possess superb customer service skills and be an outgoing, pleasantly confident individual. Someone who enjoys working with people. A natural communicator with great social skills. As an ambassador for the Cathedral, you will be able to demonstrate a reliable, responsible, flexible & trustworthy attitude & approach together with adhering to the dress/uniform code & behave in a manner that is appropriate for the Cathedral. Other skills and abilities will include: having a proactive approach to resolving problems & issues arising; having the ability to work positively as part of a diverse team; being willing to acquire a good working knowledge of the Cathedral and having the ability to work under pressure on occasions. Being able to demonstrate the ability or previous experience of cross selling a variety of products or services would be an advantage for this post. Weekly working days & hours are 11.00 to 15.00 on Fridays and Sundays. An 8-hour per week base contract with additional shifts arising covering holiday, sickness, events, and such like. The hourly pay rate for this assignment will be £10.90 per hour. The Client would like to recruit for this post, initially through the Agency, using a 12-week temporary to permanent trial period after which a review will be conducted.
