Our Client is a leading farmhouse cheese maker located in Ditcheat, 5 miles south of Shepton Mallet in Somerset. From November 2022 they are seeking additional Temporary DeBoxing Operatives to work within their Stores. The purpose of these assignments is, working within the DeBoxing Team, to ensure all orders are de-boxed, checked for any non-conformance and prepared ready to ensure that sufficient cheese is available to Packing and the Warehouse to fulfill packing runs. To successfully undertake these roles candidates will need to be physically fit to work on their feet and undertake a variety of manual handling, repetitive tasks throughout the working day. The blocks of cheese being de-boxed are typically 20 kg and on average the DeBoxing Team will handle 70 tonnes a day. The cheese is deboxed by removing the protective wooden box from the cheese block prior to packing, recording weights as necessary, stacking blocks and wrapping pallets. An ability to work accurately and at a good rate will be essential. Full Health & Safety and Job training will be provided together with any P.P.E. the assignment may require. Given the rural location (5 miles south of Shepton Mallet towards Castle Cary) candidates will need to have their own transport. Free car parking is available. Working days and hours are Monday to Friday, 07.00 to 15.30 daily. A 40-hour core working week plus overtime which can include Saturday morning work (overtime time hours after 40 hours each week are paid at a time & a half overtime rate). The hourly pay rate for this assignment is £10.87 (for the first 40 hours each week) and after 40 working hours each week an overtime rate will be paid at £16.31 per hour (time & a half). Some of these assignments may have the potential to transfer from temporary to permanent after the initial first 3 months of temporary service.
